New Removable NIST-Certified Sensor Leads Coming
Monnit Engineers are finalizing development on our three swappable, removable leads for another version of ALTA® Standard and Low Temperature and Humidity Sensors.
The leads are calibrated to defined standards meant to meet industry standards, such as those provided by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). This means you can:
- Start by installing the sensor with NIST-certified, uniquely calibrated sensor leads tailored to your specific applications.
- Simply remove the lead using its M8 6-pin connector when it’s time to send it for recalibration and recertification.
- Then, quickly swap the lead with a newly calibrated and certified one.
The new leads are being designed to enhance calibration, compliance, certification, sensor installation, and recertification. Currently, if a sensor requires calibration or certification, you must remove the entire device, send it for calibration and certification, and then reinstall it.
With embedded memory technology within the lead head, it stores unique sensor identification and calibration data. The innovation ensures that NIST traceability and certification information, for example, travel with the lead itself, not the wireless sensor. The Monnit and affiliated lab certification system will help you meet compliance with quality and regulatory standards, such as the FDA’s 21 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 11B.
You’ll get these NIST traceability certificates of accuracy from an accredited lab, Sensor Calibrations:
- A 25-month certificate for ALTA Standard Temperature Sensors.
- 13-month certificates for ALTA Low Temperature and Humidity Sensors.
We want to ensure you monitor with NIST-certified and custom-calibrated sensors. Gain peace of mind that your ALTA Temperature and Humidity Sensors are accurate and meet industry and application standards today with our new swappable, removable leads.
Key Benefits
- Simplified Calibration: Replace only the lead, not the entire sensor.
- NIST Traceability: Calibration settings are stored directly on the lead head.
- Easier Installation: No need to remove a perfectly functioning and installed wireless sensor.
These smart, swappable, and removable sensor leads represent another step toward greater flexibility and intelligence in Monnit Wireless IoT Sensors.

What iMonnit GPS Maps Can Do
Did you know you can track and map critical assets with GPS data in iMonnit?
This Monnit Knowledgebase article guides you through obtaining GPS location data from your ALTA® or ALTA XL® IoT Gateway. Unlock the GPS data feature on your IoT Gateway to activate GPS tracking for vehicles, fleets, equipment, supplies, and other assets in iMonnit.
The dynamic iMonnit GPS Mapping feature is ideal for tracking location and performance in logistics applications, including fleet management, field services, cold chain management, and asset tracking.
The data points you monitor on the mapping dashboards include location coordinates, time, altitude, accuracy, and speed. Many GPS data points can be exported or integrated into other tracking and reporting systems via an API, including direction, elevation, elevation change, and other relevant data.
You can create multiple maps using GPS data from one ALTA or ALTA XL IoT Gateway, or many for monitoring categories such as regions, cities, states, delivery areas, and fleet, cargo, vehicle, or asset types.
Enjoy the benefits of iMonnit GPS Mapping:
- Transform data points into visual activity maps using GPS heatmaps.
- Select any IoT Gateway on a map to explore current and past GPS data.
- Refresh maps and send current data points on the IoT Gateway’s dedicated GPS Heartbeat.
- Integrate GPS data into fleet management and logistics systems using APIs.
- Export GPS data points to CSV files for easier use in Microsoft Excel and reporting.
